Banyan: New light in Myanmar? | The Economist →
Another unique opportunity for the Myanmar government to make true progress in terms of moving away from military control. These tipping points in the past have come and gone, with nothing changing. Let’s hope that a combination of local opposition engagement, pressure by its Asian neighbors, and the desire to have sanctions ended will make a more lasting change in the regime/government.

China’s Low Roaming Fees Won’t Be Matched Soon -... →
889 million Chinese mobile subscribers have allowed the two biggest Chinese telecoms to lower roaming fees almost to the level as local calls. A good case for monopolies — volume buying/negotiating power. Now, if other countries are forced to follow suit things would be great. Perhaps the EU will get on the case of European providers after seeing what China was able to do.

Will Westerners want to fly on China-made jumbo jets? Right now there may be some carryover perception about the quality of Chinese high-tech goods; by 2030 when the aircraft are rolling off the factory floor, it may no longer be an issue. You can bet Airbus and Boeing are watching these developments closely, as the Asian markets are their primary growth opportunities, and a local brand/aircraft...
